Hello, MOOC-Ed Participants! Would you believe this is our final week together! We are so pleased with the level of engagement and deep discussion that has been taking place throughout this MOOC-Ed. Our #CDL_MOOCEd Twitter chats have been buzzing with activity over the last five weeks and there are so many amazing tips, recommendations and resources generated by our awesome participants not only on the Twitter feed, but within the MOOC-Ed forum as well. This final week will focus around the difficult task of coaching our colleagues to vet and select web tools and resources to support their curriculum and instruction. Jaclyn Stevens will be your guide during this unit. Jaclyn has taught 7th grade ELA and high school Digital Media, and she has had a successful career as a Media Designer for over fifteen years which gives her a unique perspective on digital resources and devices in the classroom. Jaclyn is passionate about supporting educators in transforming their digital pedagogy for learning and teaching beyond the tools. Her current work includes creating and facilitating face-to-face and online professional development that coach pre- and in-service educators in cultivating their digital pedagogies. A few important reminders: End of Course Survey: Please take a moment to complete a survey of your MOOC-Ed experience. Your survey should take 8-10 minutes to complete and your feedback will assist us in creating more MOOC-Eds for educators like you! It will be posted this week, so be sure to check back. Discussion Forum: We need your help in keeping the discussion forum manageable. If you notice someone has already begun a thread on a theme or topic that you would like to elevate, feel free to add your response to their discussion instead of starting a new one. Instructional Technology Coaching Action Plan: Continue to work through each section of your plan. This plan serves as a guiding template as you create, organize and consolidate your current practice with the various tasks, strategies and ideas gleaned from throughout this MOOC-Ed and will be a valuable resource upon completion of this course. Twitter Hashtag: Please use #CDL_MOOCed to tweet about the course. Our Last chat this week’s will be on: And, if there are any units you would like to review before the course closes, please do so. No worries, we Storyfied it for you!), we are inviting you to investigate your digital footprint and share your reactions using #CDL_MOOCEd #footprint. There are fantastic stuff happening, so be sure to search "#CDL_MOOCEd #footprint" to read other's responses too. Jaclyn Stevens will be your guide during this unit. We are so excited that you have registered for Coaching Digital Learning Learning: Cultivating a Culture of Change, beginning MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23. This six-week course allows you to collaborate with instructional technology coaches, technology integration specialists, media specialist, and those who guide the integration of digital learning to directly enhance and support student learning.
You will deepen your understanding of what it takes to coach educators to integrate technology effectively; explore relevant frameworks, strategies, tools, and resources; and develop and share an Instructional Technology Coaching Action Plan to support their school or district's digital learning culture. Here are a few quotes from past CDL MOOC-Ed participants: “Developing a better understanding that a technology coach isn't just someone who finds resources for teachers to use- it is someone who teaches educators how to transform their pedagogy to incorporate 21st century skills using technology integration as the vehicle.” “I have been a technology integration coach for the past two years, but only now [after the CDL MOOC-Ed] have a strong grasp of that what that is supposed to mean. I can evolve with this new information. I had heard of most of these topics before, but they hadn't been put into a clear coaching framework for me. I am grateful.” “At my site, I often feel like I am isolated from others...the [CDL MOOC-Ed] made it easy for me to communicate and collaborate with others on my own time. The Course really allowed me to focus and think about where I wanted to go and how I was going to get there.” “Coaching Digital Learning helped me have better conversations with teachers and clarify my own thought process in preparing for those conversations. Before the course, I was on the right track. Now, I feel very confident in speaking, teaching and coaching teachers how to effectively reach their idea of an optimal learning environment.” We can't wait to get started with you on MONDAY. Feel free to check out #CDL_MOOCEd on twitter for updates and excellent resources too! And encourage your colleagues to Register too!!!
